For decades, the Downey Unified School District (DUSD) has enjoyed a reputation as a truly superior school system.

Again and again, DUSD schools have been recognized with distinguished state honors for their high performance.

Year after year, students of DUSD schools have outperformed surrounding districts on state-wide testing.

In recent years, all DUSD campuses have been renovated to include state-of-the-art technology and first-rate athletic facilities.

Dusd schools offer a full range of special programs for students with individual needs. Such as: GATE (Gifted And Talented Education program), Honors, and Advanced Placement offerings for high-achieving: AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) to help prepare students for college eligibility and succes; and Title I programs to help students reach, at a minimum, proficiency on State academic achievement standards and assessments.

Well-paid DUSD teachers are dedicated to doing everything they can to ensure that each student receives the finest education possible.

Most DUSD campuses offer before and after-school academic child care programs that run until 6:00 pm.
